"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..." And so is ugliness. That is what makes art subjective. Everyone's perspective is different and everybody sees things in different ways. But there is beauty and ugliness in everything. The challenge is to find that unique point of view which presents a subject in a way that is new, interesting, and different. Evolving out of a sketch and then an experiment, as well as the desire to work on a larger scale for the first time in nearly ten years, this series, primarily from 2004, was a marked departure, exchanging sharp linear lines for a softer, more organic fluidity. |
